Mr. Gregg Nelson

Gregg Nelson is responsible for the overall accounting operations at IBM. This includes SEC reporting, technical accounting, general accounting, consolidation and analysis, tax accounting, acquisitions/divestitures, financial systems and related internal controls over financial reporting. Nelson is a member of the company’s Growth and Transformation Team, Disclosure Committee, Financial Risk Management Board and Financial Policy Committee.

Nelson joined IBM in 1976. Throughout his career, he has had numerous accounting and finance executive positions, including divisional and group CFO positions. Mr. Nelson also served as Assistant Controller on the corporate staff responsible for worldwide financial planning and pricing. His most recent position was VP, Accounting Policy and Financial Reporting. He assumed his current position in 2016.

Nelson has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting and a MBA in Corporate Finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU). He is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants, Financial Executives International (FEI) and FEI’s Committee on Corporate Reporting. He is also a member of the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council (FASAC) and the FASB/IASB Transition Resource Group for Revenue Recognition (TRG). Nelson is a former member of the IASB’s Global Preparer’s Forum and the FDU Silberman College of Business Advisory Board. He is also a Certified Management Accountant.
