John A Koleno

John A. Koleno, a native of Chicago, Illinois, is the Special Agent in Charge of the Chicago Field Office, United States Secret Service.  In this senior executive position, he is responsible for providing operational oversight of the protective, investigative and administrative functions of the Chicago District which covers the entire States of Illinois and Wisconsin as well as counties in Northwest Indiana.  He is in charge of developing and implementing strategic level plans, policies and procedures to enhance the operational efficiencies and he is the primary Secret Service official responsible for coordinating, de-conflicting and facilitating collaboration with federal, state, local, private sector, and academic partners.
 
Mr. Koleno began his Secret Service career in 1996 as a Special Agent in the Los Angeles Field Office before moving on to assignments on the Presidential Protective Division and  the Office of Investigations. He has since served in numerous managerial assignments which include Secret Service Coordinator of the 2008 Republican National Convention, Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Phoenix Field Office, an Inspector in the Secret Service Inspection Division and the Special Agent in Charge of the Office of Investigations.  He most recently served as the Deputy Assistant Director, Unites States Secret Service, Office of Investigations, in Washington, DC.
 
Mr. Koleno has also worked as a Police Officer for the Los Angeles Police Department.  He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Illinois at Chicago.
