The COSO framework, released by the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO), is the most widely used internal control framework in the U.S., underlying Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 opinions. COSO’s 2013 update becomes effective (i.e., supersedes the original, 1992 COSO framework) this year.
