A Message From Our President - April 2019

The Baltimore Chapter program year has been quite successful, and we continue to welcome many new members. Our goal is to be considered the best networking group for financial professionals in the area.  In my opinion, there is no better way to get CPE credits. No other event provides you with the background on iconic local companies or transcendent startups while providing C-suite networking opportunities over hors d'oeuvres and cocktails. We are encouraged by our chapter growth and as always, we welcome new members to consider joining our board or other committees that they may have a passion for serving.

On April 17th we visited Helping Up Mission, a transformative non- profit that is helping individuals turn their life around by providing food, shelter, rehabilitation services and workforce training. As a chapter, we were humbled by the invitation to get a glimpse into the lives of some of the residents. Our last two monthly events (The CEO-CFO Speaker Series) featured Decisive Communications and Maglev. One company is creating new ways to communicate and pushing the technology envelope while the other is working to improve transportation in the Baltimore-Washington DC corridor by making a seamless connection between the two areas. Switching gears, we are highly anticipating our roundtable discussion with the Baltimore branch of the Federal Reserve in May, there’s more to come on that!

In the last correspondence, we mentioned our growing social media presence which has contributed to our chapter growth and has been invaluable with regards to keeping our community connected when members are unable to attend. We are super thankful to Kasey, our Marketing Director, for helping us move in this direction. Accordingly, I would also like to invite our members and sponsors to follow our new FEI Baltimore LinkedIn page for all the latest news, meeting highlights and pictures.

We have also created a member and sponsor spotlight which is a way for us to provide recognition to those who support our chapter to recognize them for their accomplishments in career, social or family life. If you have a great story to tell please feel free to share it with us. The chapter is all about learning about local businesses, building networks and of course, having FUN!  We hope these tidbits will encourage further communication and networking at our monthly gatherings. More importantly, we want all our FEI family to feel connected and appreciated!

We look forward to seeing everyone at our upcoming events. I would encourage everyone to bring a friend or colleague that has potential for FEI membership. If you are a CFO, bring your Controller or Treasurer. Eligible membership positions also include Risk Officer, Audit Chair, Comptroller and practically any VP/SVP/EVP financial title. We are the premiere financial organization in Baltimore for networking and career growth opportunities so please take a moment to check us out.

As always, we welcome your comments, suggestions, and participation. I look forward to seeing you at our next chapter meeting.
