Tell us a little bit about your career, educational/professional background and how you got to where you are today.
Over the last 16 years, I’ve worked with and for some of the best recruiters in the country – Mitch Halbrich, Craig Walker and Brian Piotrowski, to name a few. Through this experience, I have become an expert in identifying top financial executives and staff-level talent. I’ve also developed key relationships with CEOs, CFOs and financial executives in the Baltimore market.
In my current role, I focus on finance, accounting and executive-level placement, filling positions ranging from staff accountant to corporate/private equity or CFO. My team is currently the top direct-hire recruitment group in the country for Randstad Corporation – a $22 billion company committed to serving the market with precision recruitment expertise.
What is one piece of information you wish someone had told you when you first started your career?
I was told very early in my career that "the only person who cares about your career is you." This philosophy goes against my nature, but I think there is a lot of merit and many lessons you can learn from it.
What do you love most about working in the finance profession?
I love connecting with others and leveraging my network to introduce the right people to create mutually beneficial relationships. Being able to introduce a CFO to a particular type of industry expert that will help their team be successful brings me a lot of joy.
What is your best networking tip?
I am not afraid to walk into the middle of any circle. But the way I started networking was by standing next to the person who knows everyone in the room and asking them if there is anyone I should meet.
Why does your company sponsor FEI Baltimore Chapter?
Two reasons. First, the programming. And second, the network of financial executives that is growing through a strong board and CFO advocate members.
What are some activities you participate in to advance the profession or your career?
Philanthropic giving. I am 100% dedicated to making Baltimore a better place to live, work and enjoy. I want our city to thrive at all levels, and helping deserving non-profits is one way I am advancing in my career.
