Regulatory and governance updates 

Biden administration proposal 
On Nov. 10, the Biden administration proposed a rule requiring federal contractors to publicly disclose their climate-related financial risks and greenhouse gas emissions and set targets for reducing emissions.

Adoption of CSRD 
With the European Parliament’s adoption of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) on Nov. 10, multinational companies will have to regularly report on sustainability factors.

Updated RMI EMRT 
On Nov. 4, the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) released an updated Extended Minerals Reporting Template (EMRT), version 1.11.

GHG disclosure requirements 
The International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) voted to require company disclosures on Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and it will develop provisions to help companies apply Scope 3 requirements.

Ban on PFOA substances 
Japan announced an upcoming amendment to its Chemical Substances Control Law (CSCL), which will ban 56 persistent and bioaccumulative perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) substances in a variety of product categories for both manufacture and import.
