Twin Lakes Brewing Company Presentation and Tour

"Reflections of a Small Business Owner on Running a Specialty Brewing Operation"

Featuring Sam Hobbs, Co-Founder & CEO

Sam Hobbs was born and raised at Twin Lakes Farm in Greenville, Delaware.  Established in 1826, Twin Lakes Farm is currently operated by Sam, who represents the seventh generation of his family to operate this farm.

In 1985, while attending the University of California at Berkeley, Sam wrote a humorous chemistry paper about "aqueous beer foam".  From that point on, he embraced the art of craft brewing.  After completing his Master's degree from the University of Cape Town in 1994, Sam became the craft beer entrepreneur he was at heart.  Early last decade, Sam and a few of his friends, inspired by patriotism and the American dream to create his own business, developed a unique 15-gallon gravity fed pilot brewing system that led to the founding of Twin Lakes Brewing Company.

Twin Lakes Brewing Company produces American ales and lagers using only 100% natural ingredients including water from beneath the farm from a deep rock aquifer.  In 2006, Twin Lakes launched its first two brands - Greenville Pale Ale and Route 52 Pilsner

Attendees will learn from a local entrepreneur about the "new business" process, from initial idea through the completion of a business plan;  continuing through the early stages of marketing, operations and finance; to the culmination of actual operational start-up.
