"The Business of Golf"

Featuring Guest Speaker Jim McLaughlin, SVP, Troon Golf

FEI's last event of the 2014-2015 program year is at Fieldstone Golf Club and features a presentation by Jim McLaughlin, a senior executive from Troon Golf of Phoenix, AZ.  This event will include cocktails and heavy hors d'oeuvres and the option to play golf in the afternoon.

Troon Golf's private club division manages Fieldstone Golf Club.  In 1990, Troon started in the third party private club management business with one facility.  It has since grown to become the largest third party manager of golf and club operations in the world.

Jim's presentation will focus on three points:  (1) how a third party management model is sold in the industry; (2) how Troon's oversight and best practices with centralized coordination of accounting, payroll and HR add value to a stand-alone golf club; and (3) how Troon offers members substantial benefits all around the world.  Both golfers and non-golfers should find this "behind the scenes" look at operating an unusual and complex business quite interesting.  For Mr. McLaughlin's bio, click here.

For those golfers who struggle with a 30 yard chip shot, a Fieldstone pro will provide demonstration of the proper shot from the clubhouse terrace to the nearby short game area.

For FEI members, sponsors and guests who want to play 9 or 18 holes during the afternoon, Fieldstone has generously agreed to provide access to the course for a discounted price.
