FEI Delaware Chapter Academic
Awards Night
Academic Night is an annual event held by the Delaware Chapter of the Financial Executives International (FEI). FEI is a preeminent professional association for senior financial executives representing 15,000 individuals. Membership driven, FEI provides peer networking opportunities, emerging issues alerts, personal and professional development, and advocacy services to Chief Financial Officers, Controllers, Treasurers, Tax Executives, and Finance and Accounting Professors in academia. They do this principally through their strong internet community, their 73 chapters and their 7 technical committees. Membership is limited to individuals holding senior management positions similar to those listed above, but they allow many other finance professionals to join if they meet certain criteria. Other typical titles held by FEI members include Assistant Controller, Subsidiary CFO or Controller, Assistant Treasurer, and Director of Tax.
Academic Night is an opportunity for the Delaware Chapter to recognize academic excellence at local universities. Universities that participate in the program are: Delaware State University, University of Delaware, and Widener University. The Chapter awards three scholarships for Accounting, Finance, and Community Service to students at each of these schools. In addition, one graduating senior from each school is given Medallion Award. Scholarships and Medallion Award selections are based on academic performance and extracurricular activities. A faculty coordinator from each school, working with his or her colleagues, makes the selections. Scholarships and Medallion Awards are sponsored by Chapter member companies and Chapter Sponsors.
Menu Selections include Chicken Saltimbocca (sautéed boneless breast of chicken), Shitake Crusted Salmon Filet (with wild mushrooms, rosemary & truffle oil) and Mushroom Ravioli.
