Dinner and Networking Event Featuring Guest Speaker Greg Feldberg, Senior Associate Director, Research and Analysis, U.S. Office of Financial Research

“Systemic Risks in the U.S. Financial System Before and After the 2008 Financial Crisis and the Ensuing Dodd-Frank Legislation”

Please plan to join us on May 17th as Greg Feldberg offers his unique perspective on the causes of the financial crisis and lessons learned.  The scope of the crisis was unprecedented.  It revealed significant deficiencies in the data available to monitor the financial system.  It also revealed gaps in the analysis of financial stability and in the financial regulatory framework.  Congress sought to address these issues through the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.  Today, the financial system is more resilient by a number of measures, but pockets of vulnerability remain.

Among other reforms, Dodd-Frank created the Financial Stability Oversight Council, consisting of the federal financial regulators and others with oversight responsibilities, and the Office of Financial Research (OFR), an independent office within the U.S. Treasury. The OFR collects and standardizes financial data, performs essential research and analysis, and develops new monitoring tools.

Greg is responsible for research strategy and publications at the OFR. He is a veteran of Wall Street and the Federal Reserve System. Following the crisis, he worked on financial regulatory reform at the Treasury Department and served as Research Director and lead author of the Financial Crisis Inquiry Report, the official Congressionally mandated report on the causes of the crisis.  For his complete bio, click here.
