Will Green founded Mentoring Positives in 2004 in the Darbo-Worthington neighborhood in Madison. Green, a coach, uses basketball as a hook. “Perseverance, working hard, teamwork, all those things that you need in everyday life. I push those traits onto the kids.They're yearning to be a part of a community and we're going to give them that.”
Green's programming has included his Off the Block Salsa and Off the Block Pizza, programs that teach these youth cooking and entrepreneurial skills. Earlier this year, the program expanded into their own space called Muriel's Place, named after Green's mother. According to Green, it’s gonna have a lot of love and cultural experience. We look forward to hosting FEI, meeting Mr. Green, and learning more about the great work they are doing.
