Title: Senior Manager of Accounting & SEC Reporting

Company: Exzeo Group Inc.

Length of time you’ve been an FEI member: 2 months

Why did you join the FEI Tampa Bay Chapter? And what benefits have you realized from your membership?

I joined FEI Tampa Bay to connect with fellow finance leaders in the local business community and stay engaged with current trends and best practices in financial reporting and executive leadership. As someone deeply involved in SEC reporting and corporate accounting, I value the opportunity to exchange ideas with peers facing similar challenges and responsibilities. I’m also looking forward to participating in thought-provoking events and gaining insights that will help me continue to grow.

Do you think it takes a certain kind of personality to thrive in finance? What traits are most important?

Absolutely. Success in finance often requires a mix of analytical thinking, integrity, adaptability, and strong communication skills. Being detail-oriented is important, but equally critical is the ability to see the big picture and collaborate across departments. In leadership roles, emotional intelligence and sound judgment become just as important as technical skills.

What personality traits and intangible qualities do you look for when recruiting new talent?

Beyond technical competence, I look for curiosity, accountability, and a collaborative mindset. I appreciate candidates who ask thoughtful questions, take ownership of their work, and can adapt to change. A good cultural fit is the key: someone who is professional yet approachable often makes a long-term difference on a team.

What is your best tip for how to stand out in the finance field?

To stand out in finance, we need to combine technical excellence with strategic thinking. It’s not enough to just get the numbers right, we will have to understand the broader business context and communicate insights that drive decision-making. Staying proactive about learning, whether it’s mastering new reporting tools, staying current with regulatory changes, or mentoring junior staff will set you apart. Over time, consistency, credibility, and the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable guidance become our strongest differentiators.

What are some of your personal hobbies outside of finance?

Outside of work, I’m passionate about exploring new places and cultures. I love to travel and have visited some destinations around the world. I also enjoy tasting wine and discovering fine cuisines, whether through dining out locally or learning about regional specialties while traveling. Another favorite pastime is attending musicals; I find live theater to be both inspiring and energizing. These experiences give me a fresh perspective and help me stay balanced and curious outside of the finance world.
