What board committee do you serve on? And what role does that committee play in enhancing the chapter?
I currently serve on the Philanthropy Committee, which plays a critical role in giving the Tampa Bay community a peak into our FEI local chapter.
I’m responsible for planning our chapter’s annual sporting clay tournament in partnership with Bay Area Advisors to raise awareness and money for Moffitt Cancer Center. This is a favorite event for members and sponsors of FEI, but also attracts many folks from the Tampa Bay financial community who may or may not have had prior experience with FEI.
We missed 2020 due to COVID restrictions but have held the event for almost 10 years and raised over $15,000 during that time. Our most recent event was held on September 24, 2021 and folks have already been asking about 2022.
Why is philanthropy important to the FEI Tampa Bay chapter? How does the chapter give back?
Philanthropy is a way in which the Tamp Bay Chapter of FEI can make a positive contribution to the greater Tampa Bay area in ways outside of accounting and finance. Our sporting clay event raises money for Moffitt Cancer Center and our annual holiday party raises money for a different charity each year, such as Metropolitan Ministries. Through philanthropy, the chapter can help our members and sponsors support those specific charities that mean the most to them.
What is the most rewarding part of being a member of FEI Tampa Bay?
Meeting wonderful people and developing long term business relationships that frequently end up as friendships.
What benefits have you seen from being a part of FEI Tampa Bay?
Being part of FEI Tampa Bay has brought me closer to the Tampa Bay financial community. The programs offered by FEI have showcased local executives and businesses which raises awareness and a respect for the diversity and success of businesses that thrive and support Tampa Bay.
