Why did you join the FEI Tampa Bay Chapter? And what benefits have you realized from your membership?
I was invited to join the chapter as a Tampa Bay Business Journal CFO of the Year award recipient. I’m looking forward to learning about the benefits of membership.
Tell us a little bit about your career, educational/professional background and how you got to where you are today.
I started out in public accounting and eventually went to work for an audit client who had recently gone through a major acquisition. I had to jump in and learn as I went. There were several acquisitions that followed, and I have been involved in M&A ever since.
What is your most rewarding accomplishment as a finance executive?
Every transaction is different, and they are all rewarding in their own way. In private equity, the most rewarding moments are when your investors thank you for a job well done.
How did you discover your passion for finance?
I had a love of numbers and solving puzzles at a young age.
What is one piece of information you wish someone had told you when you first started your finance career?
Your days will never be long enough to accomplish all that you have to do. Embrace the to-do list, but don’t expect it to ever disappear.
What do you love most about working as a financial executive?
The sense of pride. I love the feeling of working on a project through to completion.
What job would you pursue if you weren’t in finance?
Litigation - I also enjoy making arguments for my opinions.
What is your best networking tip?
Although I strongly believe in learning by doing, never underestimate the wealth of knowledge you can get from someone who has been there. Find a mentor and be a mentor.
What are some of your personal hobbies outside of finance?
I spend my free time practicing yoga, going to the gym, and spending time with family and friends. I love being outdoors, by the pool, boating and traveling.
