In lieu of our typical Member Spotlight, we wanted to take a moment to honor FEI Tampa Bay member and former Board Member Alan Satterwhite, who passed away earlier this year. Al had a larger than life personality and was an active member of our chapter and board.

Prior to joining the Tampa Bay Chapter of FEI, Al was involved in the Columbus Chapter, where he served on the board from 1994 to 1997. He later joined the Tampa board in 2010 and helped rebuild the chapter during a pivotal time in the organization’s history. His knowledge was key in this rebuilding phase. Al offered our board insight into how other chapters operated and molded the direction of our chapter.

Al began his finance career at Coopers & Lybrand (Price Waterhouse Coopers), where he worked his way up to general practice Senior Manager. In this role, he served as lead account executive for a number of growing companies, including Bank One Corporation and Wendy’s International. From 1978 to 1989 he served as Senior VP and CFO for Cardinal Health. And in 1989, he co-founded Karrington Health, where he served as the COO and CFO of the organization. The company went public in 1996 and later merged with Sunrise Assisted Living (NYSE- SRZ) in 2000.

Al was very active in the Tampa Bay Chapter of FEI and always welcomed new members and guests at every event he attended. He was gracious, opinionated, and always happy to be a part of our chapter and the board. We wouldn’t be the chapter we are today without him and we will miss him at our future events.
