Why did you join the FEI Tampa Bay Chapter?
I want to meet like-minded community leaders and help wherever I can.
Tell us a little bit about your career, educational/professional background and how you got to where you are today.
I’m a 40-year CPA and a former CFO for large automotive groups. I also had a short stint with a large law firm. Then, I decided to strike out on my own.
What is your most rewarding accomplishment as a finance executive?
Developing a successful office from scratch numerous times.
How did you discover your passion for finance?
I enjoy helping people thrive.
What is one piece of information you wish someone had told you when you first started your finance career?
Think in terms of top to bottom instead of bottom to top. I always look for solutions to the process by defining each intended result. By looking at things this way, you can figure how you are going to solve the problem and how many people you will need to accomplish your goals.
What do you love most about working as a financial executive?
Creating additional benefit in people’s lives. I enjoy asking questions like ‘what are your barriers to future success?’ and ‘what is stopping you from getting there?’ It is helpful to define these. Another great question is ‘if you were to sell or transfer your company today how ready are you to obtain the maximum value?’

What are some of your personal hobbies outside of finance?
Golf and fishing.
