Marcia Brown-Rayford

Role & Experience

Marcia is an exceptional leader with over 25 years of experience in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology and medical devices industries in R&D operations. Her multi-faceted experience lies in the areas of clinical trials/development optimization, strategic transformation, commercialization, and operational excellence - all with realized, sustained successes. She translates client strategy into efficient operations by leveraging a suite of proven methodologies and tools.

She began her career at Merck as a clinical research/drug development chemical engineer and led efforts to design clinical trials data modeling and simulation for faster go/no-go decisions, accelerated regulatory submissions and approvals and increased probability of success (among other significant contributions during her 13 years at Merck). 

Marcia has contributed nearly $0.5 billion in efficiency and productivity gains through cost and cycle time reduction and process optimization while enhancing GCP, GMP, GDPR and other regulatory compliance.

She is a former PwC consultant and has led global, enterprise-wide cross-functional initiatives for leading life sciences clients, including Pfizer, Merck, J&J, Bristol Myers Squibb, McNeill, Ortho Diagnostics, DePuy Synthes, Certara, etc.  

Most recently, Marcia led a client to optimize their pharmacometrics and modeling and simulation operations, including standardization of solution platforms, data modeling scripts repository and search engine, statistical analysis plan templates, and redesigned regulatory submission packages, resulting in $8M in annual cost reduction.  

Marcia’s contributions have resulted in over $250M in efficiency gains, including cost reduction, savings and avoidance as well as revenue enhancement which directly impact client profitability.
