James is the state and local tax partner for the RSM Phoenix and Las Vegas offices. He brings more than 32 years of experience in the field of state and local taxes. He has extensive sales/use and income/ franchise tax experience, especially in Arizona, California, Nevada and New Mexico. His breadth of skills includes tax restructuring, managing multistate tax audit representation and compliance projects for multinational corporations, recovering tax refunds for clients and conducting relocation studies for companies.
James focuses on the adult education, financial services, general manufacturing, health care, high technology, mining, retail and wholesale distribution industries. He also has experience in controversy, nexus and unitary studies, multistate return reviews, credits and tax fiscal impact studies. James is a frequent speaker on state and local tax issues, including speeches before the Tax Executives Institute (TEI), Lorman Education Systems, and the Committee on State Taxation (COST).
Prior to joining RSM, James worked in public state and local tax positions with two Big Four firms and large corporate tax departments.
