Brian Grubbs

Brian was born and raised in Sacramento, CA.  He graduated from Elk Grove High School in 1988 and from the United States Naval Academy, in 1992 with a B.S. Economics.  Following graduation, he began training in nuclear submarines and eventually reported aboard USS
USS Finback (SSN 670), located in Norfolk, VA in 1994 where he performed the normal duties of a junior officer in operating the nuclear power plant and standing Officer of the Deck.  He completed deployments to the North Atlantic and Mediterranean Sea.
He completed a follow on-shore duty at Pearl Harbor from 1997-2000 where he left active duty and joined the Reserves. 
In 2000 he returned to Sacramento and joined Navigant Consulting as an energy markets consultant and was immediately thrust into the CA Energy Crises of 2001.  In 2007 he joined the company Montague DeRose and Associates as a municipal advisor providing services to state, county and city agencies when they issue municipal bonds.  Key projects he is currently working on are the Sites Reservoir and the CA State Wildfire bond program. 
In 2009, while still a Naval reservist, he was mobilized to Kuwait for a year.  Following that tour he returned to civilian life, but continued his reserve career where he retired in September 2022, as a Captain, with 30 years of total service. 
His wife Cheryl is a homemaker with many years volunteering but recently completed two years teaching 1st grade at Capital Christian School.  They have three children, 25, 24 and 21 and are enjoying the empty nest portion of life.
