FEI Dallas Chapter Virtual Monthly Meeting

“Wine” Not Start the Season with a Bottle on Us?

Celebrate the start of FEI Dallas’s 2020-21 season while enjoying a nice bottle of wine compliments of the chapter.  Since we’re unable to meet in person this month, we’re bringing the social to you!  Our dedicated chapter wine tasters have selected three different wines to meet everyone’s preference.  Simply find a comfortable chair, log on to the virtual chapter meeting, sit back and sip.

The Way It Works:  One of our local wine retailers is working with us to facilitate easy pickup service at several convenient locations around Dallas.  A bottle of wine will be available for all who register by Monday, September 7, with some exclusions*.  Details on wine pickup will be shared with eligible attendees a few days prior to the meeting.

*Exclusions:  FEI members who are not a member of the Dallas Chapter; Dallas Chapter sponsor representatives above the number of attendees per your sponsor benefits; and students participating in the Financial Executive Experience scholar program.

Robotic Process Automation and Artificial Intelligence: Automating Critical Tasks, In Critical Times, While Staying Ahead

RPA and IA are available to be leveraged to start your digital transformation journey. Yet, it’s risk vs. reward when it comes to these technologies. While the benefits are significant, organizations must remain accountable for the actions of their RPA or AI-driven systems or risk potentially significant damage. Beyond bottom lines and financial or legal implications, improving AI for the greater good – setting higher standards, building in ethical and empathetic considerations and transparency, and eliminating bias – is the right thing to do. The panelists will cover digital transformation in terms of the change management and skill sets required, real-life case studies of these technologies being used in practice, audit and financial reporting war stories of what can go wrong, how COVID-19 has altered the trajectory for RPA and AI adoption, and finally what are the considerations for the near future where AI capabilities start surpassing human intelligence.
Rauli Garcia, VP Strategic Marketing, Sage Intacct

Pivoting in Response to the Pandemic: Dallas-Based Alto Takes Ridesharing to New Heights

Alto is a Dallas-based ridesharing company with a business model built on three tenets:  safety, cleanliness, and consistency.  Because Alto owns and manages its own fleet of SUVs, the company was able to quickly update safety measures for drivers and passengers when COVID-19 hit, retrofit their vehicles, and create unique business lines including corporate courier services, Concierge for restaurant delivery, and The Market by Alto for curated gifts and specialties, which have sustained the company when rides dropped 90% in the spring due to the pandemic. CEO Will Coleman will discuss his company’s founding, mission, operations, and plans for expansion within the COVID environment.
